Default Similarities - LawnBoy A-Series & Pwoer Products Engines

I have noted many times my interest in the similarities between the old LawnBoy A-Series Engines and the Power Products Engines and how the two could be related. Recently, while going through some old Power Products Manuals, I discovered that the Power Products Company did indeed manufacture engines for a few LawnBoy and LawnBoy Private brand Lawn Mowers. The models listed were a 8FP-10LB , 8SP-10LB, 8SP-10 MR, and 8TP-10 MR, the last two with the MR suffix being Marauder Mowers, which were a Private Brand of LawnBoy. Although none of my LawnBoy Literature shows these Mowers, I have a faint recollection of seeing these numbers when affiliated with mowers that were manufactured in Canada and the fact that the number 10 was used in all the model numbers would indicate that they were manufactured in 1952.

I hope someone can elaborate on this subject as I have often wondered about the close similarity between the two engines.

Bill
