I am restoring a Kohler k 91 from the late 50's...I have a 1970's k 91 for parts. Anyways The parts engine has a large aluminum fuel tank holder and air cleaner holder. The 50's engine had two steel brackets that held the tank- I had them but can not find them...anyone out ther have and extra set or pictures so I can make somthing up?
The second question: My gas tank has a dent about the size of a silver dollar on the top and about 7 inches from the filler neck. the tank is great inside no rust, so replacing it is not really practical... any thoughts? Thanks for your help Mac Leod |

You could always leave the dent-a battle scar.

Mac, I have some K91 photos that might help with the tank mounting brackets. Send me a private message if you think they might help.

Hello Mac,
I have fixed smashed tanks with compressed air, (must be careful), but that won't do much for a dent like you have. There is a tool to weld (again be careful fire + gas fumes = explosion) a small stud to sheetmetal, then pull out the dent and grind away the stud, there will still be a need to use body filler. Also a hole can be drilled a screw inserted and pull out the dent, there is a knocker tool for this purpose you could probably rent, or borrow. However I believe all of the above is way overkill. I would just fill the dent with body filler.

Have you tried the Kohler web site.
http://www.kohlerengines.com/onlinec...lsfam=K-Series I just tried it and it must be down. I down loaded the K9 manuals a few weeks ago if you want it let me know. However it is 14.1 MB's Renee |

Thank you for the replies, I have found the brackets, and now have them primed and ready for painting...as for the gas tank, I may try compressed air, or leave it...have not decided yet. I found the manuals, Thank you for the suggestion
Thanks for your help...in the next week or so I should have pictures to post Mac Leod |
