Needing a bit of help, please...Is this a Nelson brothers engine? Does anyone have a good feel for...

Default Engine ID

Needing a bit of help, please...Is this a Nelson brothers engine? Does anyone have a good feel for what it might be? it's supposed to be about 2 hp...I loaned my "book" out and am curious if anyone can ID it.

What you have there sir is what looks like a Fairbanks Type Z engine

I agree looks to be 2-3hp range.

I originally thought so but what threw me was the hopper opening..I had a 3 hp and while the base is similar the opening in the hopper is quite a bit larger and the sides of the hopper were more over hung. The 2 hp I had didn't have the big cast base/fuel tank..I know the carb is missing in the picture and this may have me thrown off a bit as well..thanks for the help guys.

Looks like a earlier 3hp Z, the ZC had a wider hopper with a bigger hole. I think. heres a pic of the one I had

Bingo!! that's it...the one I had had the bigger hopper hole and that's what had me fooled...many thanks to all that offered help..It's for sale but missing the carb and mag and I'm not sure I want to mess with it for the money (not much but it could get pricy with the needed parts)...again thanks to all that helped out.
