I just aquired a 3 phase delta wound 5.0CCK-5DR/8462V natural gas in an enclosure that has very few hours on it, it almost looks new. I also have a 6.5 NH 3CR/16004M gasoline.
After researching the site I know I can wire it with 2 single phase 120V circuits but it will only have 3350 watts usable by doing this. I want to convert it to a single phase completely and I have a few options I think. Option 1: Find a used 5.0 single phase rotor or one with a blown engine. In the parts manual for the CCK all the 5.0 60 Hertz sets regardless of phase take he same stator 220-1821. There are only two parts that are different. The rotor and the wiring harness. The rotor for a 5.0CCK-3CR Spec R is 201-1903 and Spec V is 201-2503. The wiring harness for the 1 Phase Spec V is 338-0946 and the 3 Phase Spec R is 338-0643 (Why I mentioned the 3 Phase harness will be clear in a minute). Option 2: Rob rotor from 6.5 NH For the NH I only have a parts manual that goes to spec D wheras mine is a spec M. The rotor for the NH Begin Spec D is 201-1903 which is the same as the single phase CCK Spec R. The wiring harness for the NH Begin Spec D is 338-0643 which is the same as the CCK Spec R 3 Phase harness. Option 3: Swap entire generator heads The Generator to engine adapter for the CCK is 231-0164 which is the same as the NH Begin Spec D. I think the easiest thing would be to swap the entire generator head, both of them have the same controls and I wouldn't have any rewiring to do. I just wonder how many watts I could expect from the 6.5 generator head and 5.0 engine. Thanks, Richard |

According to Onan’s literature, a 5.0 CCK has a maximum engine potential of 5.5 KW on gasoline.
Parts manual #940-0223 covers the NH spec. A-R, you are welcome to a copy. |

Your NH is a 14 Hp engine, where as the CCK is a 10 Hp engine. These are at 1800 Rpm ratings, for both.... So figure the CCK will run out of engine, long before the copper runs out of Amps, if you do a switch....
