Default Monitor 1 1/4 HP

I started up the my Monitor 1 1/4 HP engine today. It ran great but I'm still bothered by its jumping around. I have it running pretty slow yet it still seems to wiggle around a lot. Is this normal for these engines? The flywheel runs fairly true. It acts like the flywheel is out of balance. Is there any way to check the flywheel balance? My mains and rod bearings are all tight.

Thanks for the help,
Erik Grund

I had mine mounted in the middle of my trailer for a while & I think the trailer would have started hopping around if I'd have let it run very long even with the jacks down. I moved it up to the front corner and add another trailer jack and it pretty well stays put.

Exclamation Re: Monitor 1 1/4 HP

These engines were not balanced well from the factory You might try changing the timing to get a smoother operation, but the only real cure is to bolt down to somthing heavy!
