HI, JUST GOT THIS ENGINE TODAY AND WOULD LIKE SOME INFO. IT APPEARS TO BE AN EARLY WISCONSIN SINGLE...

Photo Early Wisconsin Engine

HI, JUST GOT THIS ENGINE TODAY AND WOULD LIKE SOME INFO. IT APPEARS TO BE AN EARLY WISCONSIN SINGLE CYLINDER. IT IS SEIZED AND WILL NEED SOME TLC BUT OVERALL NOT TO BAD. MODEL AEH I BELIEVE. ANYONE ELSE HAVE ONE? WHERE WOULD THE GAS TANK GO? AM I MISSING ANYTHING?? IT HAS A NEAT LOOKING GEARBOX WITH A CLUTCH LEVER. ANY INFO APPRECIATED.

Sounds like the AEH that i have.. Mine came off of a Hay Bailer.. Here is a picture of mine... Mine is missing the original clutch lever "If anyone has one , get ahold of me.."

E-mail me off line, I have one. I would prefer to sell (or trade) it with the transmission and engine crankcase attached but....

To the first poster, I can't tell from your picture, is there an air vane on the back of cylinder jug? It doesn't look like it, but if there were you would have an early AE, probably 1930's. That is an Edison or early Wico A magneto? The Fairbanks-Morse or later Wico magnetos are more common.

Many of the AEH's had oval tanks (look for a picture of a Gibson tractor). The second poster's engine looks like it has the smaller-diameter tank, which is unusual (I have a leaky oval with the smaller radius that fits the smaller bracket) - most are slightly larger. If you need cast parts drop me a line. You can get gaskets, points, etc. from a small engine place or e-bay.
