Thanks again for all the responses- I like this forum
I looked again for an hour and then went to ebay and bought a die for $12 + 2.49 for freight. Now I need to find long bolts (with the proper size un-threaded shank) to use the die on.

you might want to try www.boltdepot.com located in mass.
any quantity,great prices,great service and of course, friendly.

Never heard of 5/8" pipe or pipe that was 20 tpi. You saying straight pipe?

There is a Unified Thread Series 20 TPI ANSI B1.1 All sizes are 20 tpi. An interesting website http://www.gewinde-normen.de/en/index.html

Another source for taps and dies will be Anich tool in florida. Talk to Ed.
