Default What is this brass fitting?

Hi,
have had this little brass fitting for years and was wondering if any Stakers had seen one. The top hollow "dome" screws onto the base. There is a small brass plug which looks like it may have been held against hole in base with a spring. About 1" long overall. I thought it may be a breather ?

Thanks for your answers fellas. You may be right.Don't think it's a spray nozzel, as there is no hole in domed part. Maybe not a greaser either as the little plug would block off only exit when top was tightened. Good guesses though. Thanks.

some kind of vent, the little plug acts as a check valve. The dome cap is just that, a cap.
