Default Hello from Australia

Hello all,

I have recently joined this forum - well a little while ago, but have not had a chance to introduce myself as yet.

I am an Australian vintage chainsaw collector, and have a great interest in preserving machines from the past. I am based in Wollongong, NSW, and have a keen interest in Titan (Mill and Mine Supply Co., Seattle) and early Homelite chainsaws.

I work in the power generation industry (steam turbines and turbo generators) so do not find alot of time at home for tinkering, however my work takes me all over the country which has its benefits - in regard to finding interesting bits and pieces and meeting people.

I hope to get a lot out of this forum, as there are some very interesting and knowledgeable members here.

Regards,

Chris.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the welcome. I will post up some photo's of my saws soon. I have been working on a couple of Homelite gear drive machines lately, and just finished off a 900G. It is a beast of a saw - hearing protection is a must when running this old monster.

Looking forward to catching up again,

Chris.

Hi Chris,
it is always good to see a fellow Australian pop up on Smokstak. I am not too far away from your part of the world as I am in Sydney.
Patrick

Thanks Bill. I grew up on a farm, so we always had plenty of old machines and pieces about the place to tinker with. As a kid, I used to love watching the stationary engine displays at local field days, and nothing has changed!

Chris.

Hi Cris,
Like you I am also a new member from here in Taupo New Zealand.
I am a retired fitter-welder and am at present trying to restore an old English made reel motor mower that belonged to my wifes grandfather. I am also restoring a 1947 Morris 8 Series E motor car. Busy days but interesting.
Regards to all
Peter
