Default Hello from the Amish Country!

Hey all out there, I've been a member now for less than 24 hours and have already learned more than I had expected.

I'm a student at a John Deere Tech School and my family farms here in Central Illinois. I hope some of my questions aren't too ignorant - though I'm sure some will be.

My current toys...

1948 John Deere A
1949 Farmall H
1928 John Deere 3HP H&M
1954 Allis Chalmers WD45
19?? John Deere 999 Corn Planter

Thanks guys, lookin forward to chatting it up!

Exclamation Re: Hello from the Amish Country!

Welcome to the Stak! My son works for JD, at a local dealership. he also worked for them in CO. He is featured in one of their training films, on how to repklace thrust washers in a split tractor (I don't remember the #) Under the old instructions, it used to take 12 hours labor to do the job - with his method, time was reduced to 4 hours (he actually did it in 31/2). He (with my help) also designed a permanant fix to a tractor brake master cylinder. The original factory fix was failing at about the same rate as the factory original fault! Good luck with JD. They are a good company to work for, if you get a foot in the door!
