Lets see your International Fridges....
I figure alot of Old Iron guys will have an Old IH Fridge in their collections... So Lets see them.
This one I bought in June 2010 For $50 at a junkyard not knowing if it worked or not... Well it does, and very well.  And this one I just pick up today, a 1952 Model. And it works like a top

My mother is still using hers. It looks like your first photo. They do not dry out food the same as the new frost free.

I have one of those ihc fridges, worked when i bought it, Never plugged it back in. Would sell it.

Here are close ups of the IHC emblem and the International Harvestor handle on my fridge. Mine is a little different from Grease Monkey's. I am pretty sure that they were only sold by IH dealers and maybe IH traveling salesmen.
