Default Hello forum from Yorkshire, England

Hello forum fellows, from Matt over in Yorkshire, England.

I've been lurking and looking on the forum now and again for a few months, but now taking the opportunity to join in fully as a member.

I'm returning to the Stationary Engine hobby after a break of about 17 years. After college I turned to owning a couple of Classic Cars and now with an expanded family with 2 young daughters I sold my last classic [Model T Ford] a couple of years ago. I've attended a couple of shows in the meantime but thats all.

Now I find myself hankering for something to tinker with, the call of Old Iron I guess? So, firstly I am having a space clearing exercise, and looking around for what engines there are on the market that I might like. When I was younger I only had space for pretty small engines, but there's a few I admired but could never get around to owning.

I doubt that I'll be able to go down the road of importing something to the UK but I do admire some of the small and medium sized open crank types.

Regards and best wishes
Matt

Thanks for the welcome guys. I am sure enjoying looking at all the old chatter. I will likely make another post about this in the coming days, but I am very interested in Ruston Hornsby and have been working out the details on starting a register of Ruston stationary engines. At first probably working on the Model PB then expanding.
Thanks to big Ruston enthusiast in England, Ray Hooley, who keeps a register of the Ruston and Hornsby gas and oil engines who is encouraging me in this task. I will be seeking info from Ruston owners in due time
Regards
Matt

Welcome to the stak. I believe you will find engines in your part of the world that will seem different to us in America and we will like seeing the pictures very much. Bill K

Bill, I shall be toting my camera around a few of the shows this year making pictures of what I see, and will surely be sharing them. Thankfully I just got a new spare battery for my camera! Can't wait for the summer.
