Default Fairbanks Morse 7.5hp Z

my engine will not pull up gas from the tank everything new
except the carb. any ideas

I'm not sure about your exact engine but most of the Fairbanks Morse Z's use a spring loaded choke disk in the air intake in order to make enough suction to draw gas from the tank.

Remember that it will need a ball type gravity check valve somewhere in the fuel line. If it doesn't have the check valve, it will draw fuel only when choked and will run poorly.
