Serial numbers are six numbers, you are missing one number. If you get it we can tell you the year,

Hi Zim,
What you have there in 34266 is the serial number found on the ignition plate itself. That is a number put there by Eisemann the ignition manufacturer along with a model number. Maytag placed their serial number on the outer rim of the flywheel. Placed at an angle to follow a fin for reinforcing.
So look on the outer rim for that 6 digit number. If the flywheel is original to the ignition plate I would expect to see a serial number on the out rim between about #846664 and 850655 or there about. If its drastically off from that I would suspect some parts have been changed. Mark S.

Wow fits perfectly!
That fits with the other number 34266 perfectly, but 843411 is actually February 38 There is a old serial number list out there that is off by one month. Not a big deal, LOL. Mark

Thats just the designation they gave to that version of ignition built for the Maytag. Then when they materially changed things so that the 72 D parts would not interchange with the new design they designated it by DA Maybe they built a 72 A or B or C for some other application, if they did I don't know but if they did D was just the next letter designation for that particular variation. With D being the fourth variation of that ignition and A designating the second version of the D for Maytag. Mark
