Default EBAY SCAM

Be careful guys-

I just received an email that was supposedly from Ebay saying that they lost all of my information. There was a link to what looked like an "official Ebay" site page to update my information. When there were boxes to fill in for password, social security number and bank PIN numbers, I just knew it must be a scam for identity theft. Never take for granted that emails such as this originated from where they claim to be from. Always update your information directly on the site itself, and not from a link on an email which could be a bogus link to get you to give out information that can give someone else access to your credit card or bank card accounts.

I am curoius, was there a link to a secure page starting with https:// ? Most of the info you would submit to ebay would be over a secure connex unless the bad guys are getting real savy with their programming. I never submit any info to ebay or others (bona fide site/info) unless it is on a secure connex.

The thing I don't like with ebay is that I will bid my max bid. Then in the last day I will be out bid by someone with a new idenity that's only hours old. Or some one with really awful feed back. Then the seller says the high bidder backed out. Then the seller wants me to buy it for my highest bid amount. The only problem is that if the other person with the new ID or the person with the bad feedback hadn't of bid. I could have got it for $10 to $50 less. So it leads me to believe that the seller is running up the bid with another ID, just to get my maximum bid price. I will not buy things that way ever again. If the seller wants to sell it to me he will just have to run another auction for the item.

If I bid my max bid and that happened to me I could care less... If I wanted it and someone bumped the bid up so what... I would still get what I wanted at what I sat my bid at... I know is not right, but I only price my bid to get a good deal... I allways bid low and I don't cry if I don't get it... If I do... Fine...
