Default BRIGGS NPR6 on Planet Junior

Hello, I'm new to this site.

Ok I'm having trouble getting the old girl to fire. It has the float bowl carb.
I have spark, fuel and I think enough compression. I squirted a bit of oil in the cylinder, turned it over a few times and then let it sat. I get a few puffs and that's it. Then the gas starts to drip out at the bottom of the air intake. I will get a new carb kit but am I flooding it or is it leaking? Had the carb all apart and everything was ok except for maybe a gasket.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Hi,
General rule of thumb I use is start with a new plug. That eliminates a lot of headaches. Even if fires when outside of the engine it sometimes will not fire under compression. You may be suprised!

If it has compression and a valve isnt stuck of leaking, have you checked the float needle valve. If the carb has been rebuilt a lot of times a plastic needle valve was used and the ethanol in todays gas is turning them to goo. I have already had 4 of my engines and 7 others peoples engines have that problem
