Travis,
Was nice meeting you at the show, thanks again for the hauling help! Hope I can return the favor some day. Congrats on the nice Alamo, I really like the original water pump on the side of the base! Awsome pictures! Was great seeing such a wide variety of nice engines at Coolspring. Was even better visiting with fellow collectors and friends that I don't get to see all that often! |

Travis,
Thank you for posting all of the great photos from the show. I was so busy at my tent and helping the museum, I only make 1 brief swoop of the field and apparently missed a lot of what was brought in. With out your post I would have completely missed seeing many of these engines! Also some of the collectors attending the show may have seen a small "water pump" looking device on the back of my trailer. It is actually a combination water pump / engine built by The National Meter company in 1883 and runs on the same principle ( flame ignition / non compression ) as the Forest Engine reproductions I am building. It is not owned by me (unfortunately) but is a curious machine and probably the oldest IC engine in the field. I put together a simple video of it in operation and described its operation and significance. Can post it here or on a new thread if there is interest. - Wayne. |

Here is a quick view of the engine running on Wayne's trailer. He was using the blended fuel of hydrogen with propane and the engine ran very well. Wayne was able to adjust the fuel and slow the engine down considerably, and that shows toward the end of this video. Very early amaizing engine!
![]() ![]() ![]() There are a lot of similarities to the Forest engine and this shows some very early and significant innovations by an American counterpart. It might have been easy to miss the importance of this piece. Travis Benner Blue Grass, Iowa |

A 35hp type G Olds in another building.
![]() ![]() A Struthers Wells and Co. Engine. ![]() ![]() These engines were in another new building called Pat's Place. The wife of the late John Wilcox donated money to have it built to house some of John's engines. I understand that next year there will be many new engines moved into this building. Travis Benner Blue Grass, Iowa ---------- Post added at 06:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:38 AM ---------- I know I have pictures of at least one more Springfield and some other great engines like Don Selmer's belt driven governor Foos and his smaller disc crank wipe spark Foos that were on grounds from my phone that I will try to add at some point to this thread. There were many other great engines to see on grounds but I did cherry pick what you have seen here simply because there was so much to see. I plan to start a new thread to highlight engines from the John Wilcox Power House building and the Earle Harvey Memorial Exposition Hall as well. Some of the engines that were also hauled in for this show were temporarily housed in the Harvey building. Travis Benner Blue Grass, Iowa |

Travis,
The vertical is a Regal made in Coldwater, Michigan. It went to a new home at the show. |
