Power Products
with Fairbanks Morse Rewind
pre Tecumseh buyout 1953??

Another little 2 stroker for the collection. Simple rebuild. Really like the fact that it has a Fairbanks Morse rewind.

Their neat little engines, I have three of them, all with the same pull start. One of them I removed from a grain elevator. Just like about any air cooled engine Im sure they had a wide range of applications.

I think they are a really well made rewind. I completely tore it down and found it very easy to work on and to replace the cord. A heck of a lot easier than say a briggs rewind that is welded to the shroud. It also cool that it can be configured to work in either direction as the dogs are reversible (CW or CCW).

Kammer, those are some beautiful AH47 engines.
What kind of paint did you use on them to get that nice finish?
I have been using plastikote and VHT but both come off when fuel is spilled.

While we are talking power products, Do any of you guys have any AH 36 parts?

I bought some "AH36" parts on ebay and they turned out to fit an AH47.

I am looking for a good cylinder, piston and rod for my 1959 Rowco Brushking. I have a good cylinder/piston and rod for an AH47 to trade.

Thanks,
Chris

Its where the dogs dig into the cup then its the nightmare as the cup wears out and dogs dont catch. Jb weld wont fix but welding up will

I can see where that would cause problems. A guy could try and sleeve it somehow. Thankfully, mine works great. As for paint, I use dupli-color. Gas won't touch the silver.

Simple fix for the dogs not catching. Put the dog ear in a vise and squeeze it a little and that will make it a little longer. Be careful you don't squeeze too hard as they will break. Worked in the lawnmower/ chain saw business fir about 15 years and Homelite loved these dxxn recoils as did many off breed brands of saws, Gene Davis

The A H 47 engine was used a lot in chain saws
david bradley, mono, strunk lots of others .
The F M starter is a great starter good to work on. Change the 2 fiber washers in the center , new rope & the timex keeps on ticking Those fiber washers are still available at your local stihl saw shop .

The paint could be aviation paint. Because aviation engine enamel is fuel resistant. Thats what I used on my AHH, cept its painted Lycoming Gray.

Exclamation Re: Power Products AH-47 with Fairbanks Morse Rewind

The early Power Products engines used a wrapa rope starter. The F/M starters were sold as an after market option. They werre easily mounted, and worked well. When I was a kid, the mower shop I worked on had cases of these starters, New Old Stock. The new owner sold them for scrap, back in the 1970s. Wish I had kept a few. The art work on the F/M boxes was neat! Yellow and black background, red print and a large white F/M logo on the top of the box!

I've got an AH36 that I acquired recently... plan to use it on a vintage look-a-like kart or minibike project, hopefully. Pics are attached. Mine has a flat gas tank, though.
