This is the Friendship NY Steamer Company's 1881(?) Silsby steam fire engine getting up steam and then pumping as part of the Mumford, NY Fire Department's 125th anniversary celebration:

Bob those are great pics, thats when you fought fire with fire. I have shared these pics with a nephew of mine who is a firefighter in Georgetown ontario canada. thanx again dave

How neat! Our town thinks it has the oldest fire
engine, they need to look at that one. Our town's oldest fire engine is kinda new compaired to that. The one here is an old model T type fire engine. The one in the video is the neatest and the cutest. I like that! judy jennings |

Beautiful! But a steam engine should never be that clean and shinny! Makes me feel guilty LOL!

I don't know if this one is a few years older or newer, but it has the wood spoke wheels with all the fancy gold leaf designs on the spokes.
I thought I had a couple pictures of it hitched up to a team of horses, but all I could find were a bunch of them with the crew cleaning & polishing it. It's at Mount Pleasant Iowa, or at least it was in 2007 anyway. Just a Beautiful piece of equipment. |
