Default John Deere 1.5 hp hit and miss engine - Value?

I am looking at a 1.5 hp John Deere motor to buy. Older resto (mostly in the paint) but is said to run quite well.

I am trying to determine what its fair price would be as its one of these open to offers type thing. My experience is limited to the small Maytags.

Any idea what is a good price to pay for it?

thanks!

- Kurt

Is it on a cart? Make sure the mag is in good condition, as the pot metal on them breaks easy, and they are the most expensive thing on the E's.

If is an original jd cart, I have seen the carts alone sell for 600 dollars. The engine probably 600-900, they very alot depending on your location, how desirable they are there, etc.
