Default 1/4 Scale Mogul Owners

Just out of curiosity, how many of you are fortunate enough to own a Sam Harmon built 1/4 Mogul s/shaft engine ?

I built the Mogul side shaft tank cooled casting kit from Pacific Model Designs. Gave it to son John and it runs great. Also built the half scale hopper cooled from Ed Chicks castings who passed on several years ago.

boz: I have two (04 & 05). Don't ask, but there is a short story on the 2nd one (05), that came my way by dumb luck . One of these days it will go to a new home when I'm ready to let it get seperated from it's brother . They both are quality models built by Sam, and just run so nice .

They are superb models and I'm well happy with mine, the detail is amazing. You are a lucky man Paul to have two ! Sam has told me not to worry about about a small concern I have with mine. I seem to have quite a bit of blow by or back pressure in the cylinder oiler. I would do as Sam suggested and not worry but I just can't see how the oil can get past the blow by to the cylinder. I have checked the valve in the oiler and it works fine. It seems that the mini oilers used in scale engines don't always work like the full sized ones, as far as the check valves are concerned. Sam also told me to use a thicker oil, which I have done, and to slow the engine right down but I still get the blow by.

I have a Sam Harman tank cooled Mogul model. Ser# E24. It's the only model engine that I have. It runs great just like the full size engine. The first time I ran it was on my kitchen table to show my wife and kids. It's a true masterpiece.

Mogulville Machine built 28 of 1/4 scale Mogul Sideshaft models to date.Of the 28 built there were 16 Hopper Cooled versions and 12 of the Tank Cooled versions.I made the tank cooled versions in a limited run of 12.Maybe sometime later I may do a few more, but won't be many if I do.I want to concentrate on building the Hopper Cooled style.I build them as ordered and don't run models unless they are commited for. This way I don't hold any down payment money if I can't deliver.I just build on the buyers word and this has worked well in all but a few cases.I have models in England,Australia,Canada and alot of US states.Paul Spence was a driving force to keep us motivated to get the first one built and has the first model sold. The models I built have nothing to do with the previous Pacific Moguls built sometime earlier.
