I think a model 31 is a washing machine and a model 92 is an engine, the common one cylinder, that could have been on a model 31.

The model 31 is the same engine as the 92 with the exception of the base, it should be a short shallow base, I have an all original model 31 washer/engine.

The single cylinder engine was just called the Multimotor. Every casting has a part number to help ID repair parts due to the slight changes in the engine over the years. It helps to have one of the original engine service manuals.
The model numbers refer to the washing machine. I have a complete listing of washer models on my web site. http://home.atcjet.net/~bwegher/ I also have an original washing machine service manual used in the Maytag shops. |

Are you talking about the washing machines or the engines they ran? In both cases the models are similar. The 92's were made from 1927 to 1930. 31's were made from 1933 to 1937.
