Default cooling of lister diesel clone

Hi fellows, i sure could use some help on designing a cooling system for a 14hp lister diesel clone that will be used to pull a generator for extended periods of time (days). how do i figure the tank size to cool an engine? i an interested in thermo siphon and a closed tank (so i'm depending on surface area for cooling?). sorry i don't really know enough to ask an intelligent question. any help would be appreciated.

Here you have a set up for continue running all day and night. This is a 16 hp engine. I'm afraid that thermo syphon cooling wouldn't work for generating purposes. A second pic can be seen at the link. Hope it's of any help for you.

My Witte 14 uses a tractor radiator and fan belt driven from the crankshaft. This setup is rated for 100% duty cycle running a generator. The engine was originally intended to be tank cooled, convection, with a 300 gallon tank. No problems using the radiator, just keep the pipe size as large as you can. I can email instructions from the Witte manual if you like. Harvey

This guy has a lot of info and he will either sell you a lister clone or build you a generator set. Click on engines for more info. I hope this is what you are looking for.

With the Lister copies I deal with I Use the tanks from old hot water heaters, just take off the outter skin and insulation. Or if youd like I can get you a factory radiator for your engine. If I could get my program for my digital camera to work I would just take some pictures of some and send them to you. Doug

I want to thank everyone that wrote in and also emailed me with information. i've always wanted a "real" engine. but for now i'll live with the reproduction lister. Thank you.
