Default 1919 Allis-Chalmers 6-12

This is a picture of my brother-in-law's (Tommy Watson's) 1919 Allis-Chalmers 6-12 tractor that I had mentioned on Smokstak a while back and was asked to post a picture of it when I got some. The serial number of this tractor is 10010 which means it was the tenth one made and we do not know of an earlier example of this style. We know where #10032 is but that is the closest to his we can find. Greg

A very neat specimen, Question: How did the steering mechanism work? I can't see anything in the picture that turns. You have a right to proud. Dave in Holt.

Wow, nice tractor. I remember seeing one of those at the Ashtabula, Ohio July show a couple of years ago.

How did it pull something? I don't see any kind of a hitch either.

Great specimen, thanks for showing it! There's one of these in the Pioneer Museum at Minden, Ne. A question was asked about steering--they articulated at back of engine. (hidden by wheel) as for a hitch, they were a motor cultivator and not a pulling tractor. The cultivator mounted under the beam below and ahead of the steering wheel. My Dad said they worked better than horses but weren't as much company.--Dave--

Hi Greg, the 6-12 looks great. Makes me want to go out to my shed and clean up and repaint mine.

Question; When they have the "Gathering of the Orange" do they invite this one?

Yep, they're just a bit color blind!

The engine on this tractor is a Le Roi 2-C.

Just got back from the Zolfo Springs show. If I'm not mistaken, the movie clip link below is of the same type of tractor...

Hey Harry, That is certainly the same style of tractor. It's a later one with the two wheel sulkey, different hitch, and seat attached to the frame. Pretty neat tractors. Thanks, Greg
