Default 1-1/2 HP IHC M adjustment

Just got my first "M". Runs great except for one thing-it hits every time around. Constant speed, but fires every time. I don't think this is right, but don't have a clue how to fix. Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Well. it's a four cylce throttle governed engine. It's supposed to hit every other cycle. It is not a hit and miss engine.

A type M should Put along quietly with no load. If it fires Hard and Goes Bang, Bang, the timing is probably late. If it has a Wico EK did you advance the timing after starting ? Some guys dream of a type M that puts along quietly and hits every other revolution because some do indeed sound like a hit and miss but thats not the way they were designed. Weak valve springs and Poor ignition, among other things can cause them to sound like a Hit And Miss.
