I just recieved email from 2ndchanceoffer@ebay.com
This is an offer to buy and item I bid on last week. I did not make the reserve. I did a help/search on ebay and could not find this service. I checked "my ebay" and found nothing. The email looks legit, but will require me to signin to do a paynow. I dont see anyway to contact the seller threw the mailing. I did send an inquiry to the seller buy searching for other items offered and I am waiting for a reply. If its a scam and I suspect it is, it is very well done. |

I used to send second chance offers to the highest bidder saying I would accept their high bid even though it didnt meet the reserve. I have yet to get the courtesy of a yes-no reply! So the hell with them,I just relist it automaticly now if it doesnt sell the first time. I do better the second time anyway! John.

Probably the reason the second chance offers are not replied to is that they come across as a possible scam, with the all the ebay scams that go around.
I have gotten several lately, and with all the ebay "spoofs" from the scammers, I'm very cautious who I reply to, and how can you be sure the "second chance offers" you receive are legit? |

I just used a second chance to to sell a second item to the backup bidder. When the seller sends the option, It is like creating another auction, but only for that person to bid on. You can set the time limit 1,3,5 days. Usually, the 1 day may be too quick to get a positive response. I set mine to 3 day and that gave the buyer some time to think about it and then act. The email will be offical and come from ebay. It will link to an auciton page with the option to "bid" at their second place bid. One "bid" and it is over (works as a buy it now). That ends the "second chance auction". and the rest proceeds as normal. Also, you only get charged if the person takes you up on the second chance and fees are based on ending value only. There is no listing fee for the second chance item. |

The 2 second chance bid contacts I had both wanted their reserve price met - not what I had bid as high bidder. If I had felt that the items were worth what they had wanted, I would have bid it. Were their requests in line with the second chance option EBay allows? Andrew
