Default VG4D Firing order and cylinder config.

I need help with a vg4d wisconsin engine mounted on a Case 3300 B series skid steer loader. I want to make sure I have the firing order correct. What is the cylinder number configuration? Firing order? and distributor rotation?

Hi

#1 is closest to the flywheel #4 is furthest from the fly wheel.

The firing order is the same as any inline 4 cylinder engine.

That is correct you have a VG4D.

The crank shaft in the VH4 and the VG4 is constructed so it works like an inline 4 cylinder engine.

You will find #1 cylinder the one closest to the flywheel and #4 cylinder the on closest to the back of the engine and on the other side from the #1 cylinder will make TDC at the same time just like an inline 4 cylinder engine.

The firing order is the same as any 4 cylinder inline engine 1-3-4-2.

The VE4 and VF4 were early engines had a crankshaft that did not cause any 2 pistons to make TDC at the same time. These 2 engines are different but still use the same firing order but a much different timing sequence because the rotation between 2 piston reaching TDC was close together and the other 2 were farther apart. Different timing sequence but still the same order 1-3-4-2.

Thank you for the explanation,, I just didn't understand. Now is number one cylinder on the left or right standing on the fly wheel end looking toward the engine. Sorry i just don't know.

Hi

The one closest to the flywheel is #1. It has been over 30 years since I worked on one of the Wisconsin’s. If you stand in front of the engine facing the flywheel #1 is on your left and closest to you. #4 is on your right and farthest from you.

The # of the cylinders are stamped on the sheet metal below the spark plugs.

'

'This engine is in a skid loader. You probably can’t see the sheet metal and provided some one hasn’t changed the sheet metal.

On some of the skid loaders no you can’t see the spark plugs without some disassembly of the machine. And thin just like the guy with the VE & VF that had a question about where the flywheel key was located. He had a VH with the wrong sheet metal on it. LOL

I don’t normally fool with firing orders I just remove all the spark plugs put my finger over a spark plug hole and turn the engine until I feel compression then turn it until one of the wires sparks. That wire goes on the plug that is at TDC.

I have done this on engines with as many as 32 spark plugs.
