Default Power Products Engine?

I have an all aluminum Power Products Model 1000 Ser. No. 19806 and am wondering if anyone can tell me what year it is. Any other info about these engines would also be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

I have several of the model 1000 engines, including one that was in the box fresh. I can start it by hooking my thumb in the aluminum wind a rope starter, and giving the crank a twist of my wrist. It is a real attention getter at shows. I believe the model 1000 series was built around 1952-56 vintage - I have some power products service bullitins, and I will have to look them up. I know that several notices came out for connecting rod problems - excess play from the factory. Apparently, P.P. had problems with the crankshaft and factory cut approx 5,000 cranks .010 undersize, and never told the assemblers of the undersize. Quite a few made it into the feild, with this mis-match, and of these a good number failed. The bullitins warned the dealers of the failures, and told them the S/Ns to look for if an engine failed in warrenty. As far as I could see they had no recall as such, just a notice to replace the offending assemblies as nescessary - either with the .010 under rod, or in the case of rod failure, an engine short block replacement. 2 of the model 1000s I have had, over the years, had noisy rods, but still ran good. These were probably within the mis-match era of time. Fuel oil ratio is 16:1, carbed to idle smooth, and slightly rich at top speed Andrew

I just aquired the same engine without a coil. Has what appears to be a new air filter which I guess is rare. Any ideas where I could find a coil would be appreciatted. Thanks. John

We have a model 1000 also and the little thing starts first time every time. We picked it up at a garage sale for $20.00. Does anyone out there know where we could obtain a manual for this engine or even an online manual would be OK. ???????
