They were made by the pioneer co.The same ones that made the pioneer engine. The engines are much the same as some ones on delco light plants. There were many differant attchments for them like plow, disc, sicklebar mower. They were made with both steel and rubber tires. There was one for sale last year here in MD.

They made a few different models. The early ones had a engine made by them, and the later ones had a ( I think) a Briggs or Wisconsin. There was a write-up in the Oct. 1994 GEM.

Nice looking Monarch sitting beside it. From the shroud, it looks like a late style tractor with flywheel magneto. I have an earlier style, with buzz coil and battery ignition. Also, wooden handles, instead of metal.

Tom, you are right. It is a 1948 Monarch. It does have under flywheel mag. I need to find one cuz that one is broken, unless I can find someone to fix it. Thank You for the nice comment. Mike

The little tower that the spark plug wire hooks to is gone and there is no way to attach it to the spark plug wire.

Does anyone have a Red E that has TWO levers on the handle bars? Ours does, and wondering if it is one that has reverse. Also, would like to see a pic of a muffler to see what should be on ours. And did they make a Red E with metal handle bars? I think ours are original, but not sure. It is a model 12 as best I can figure. Thank you for any help.

I have a Red E on steel wheels with the round gas tank. I understand it is from the mid 1930’s. When we had it apart in the early 1980’s, I remember the connecting rod and piston were labeled “Ford”.

Currently I am working on cleaning out the gas tank and fuel system. It sat for a few years after we forgot to drain the gas. What a mess! It looked like the fuel line was filled with grease. I’m using gunk carb cleaner. We should be back running for the summer shows.

John,
Red-E did use Ford piston and rod in making their engines.

The early Red Es had oval shaped gas tanks, later they used a round tank. I have one with the air cooled engine and rubber tires that I would like to sell.

I have a Red E from the 50's I'm assuming. I'm looking for any information I can find. The engine is a Wisconsin and I shouln't have trouble with parts for it but I have no idea what this tractor is suppsed to look like. Did it have a hood? What's the aluminum post for (gas tank) If anyone has any photo's or scans from a brocure It sure would help. Thanks, Steve

I have a Red E brochure that I would like to sell if anyone is interested. I have seen spark plug charts listing Red E with Gladden engines. Does anyone have a Red E with a Gladden engine?

I am developing a web-site for RED-E Power Cultivator / Garden Tractor information. I recently bought a few manuals, dealer literature, and brochures that I will attempt to scan and post.

I envision a site with information for the 2 and 4 wheeled tractors. There are a few links posted, a few pictures, and a decal if you need one. Please forward any info that you would like to share and have posted. Please let your buddies know that the site is available and under continuous development. I look forward to seeing your name in my registry and e-mail list. Enjoy!

Feel free to e-mail me at mrtruckman@comcast.net for additional information. I forgot the web-page link but will post it tonight when I get home.
