Default CAVEAT-EMPTOR

As the title says, a lesson in [Buyer-Beware]-follows In may,- there was a engine for sale on e-bay-#3815451704--I bid, it did not make the reserve--wnen I ret,d from surgery, I mailed-and asked how much--they say 500,00--OK, I say and send the 500--about a month goes by and I have it picked up--[it was ok to leave it there]-it finally arrives a couple days ago--and there is repairs to the rocker stand-[actually part of the head]-repairs to a busted igniter--and the fuel pump bracket is broken off, and no fuel pump--also the engine is so close to being stuck it will barely move--I wrote them a e-mail and the jist of several mails--is IF YOU WANT PERFECT-BUY NEW--this engine complets a set of igniter engines for me --so I am going to fix it, at much expense--so I will have both sets now--igniter--and spark plug units--so the lesson here is not to trust--but I can't help myself-all lessons in life are painfull and -or expensive--BEWARE--OR BE-AWARE. d,j,

If you had asked them to re-list on ebay, and would have bought it there, you would have at least SOME buyer protection.

Don't feel like you're alone, though! I just got screwed for the second time on ebay (in about 300 auctions). Small item, guy dropped out of sight with my $20.00 M.O..

eBay does seem to have it's problems - my son has been chasing a non-shipper for 2 years now. He and at least 4 others have bought items from this person, and have not received their merchandise. eBay has not helped with either obtaining the cash or the item. We are now in the courts for mail fraud.

All in All E-bay is a wonderful asset to our hobby. Be it looking for parts or selling spare parts. Its truly a shame how a few bad apples can spoil the bushel. But don,t blame e-bay. E-bay allows you to post negative feedback. If you feel you end up on the wrong end of a deal and the other party is not willing to work it out then respond with your opinion in the feedback section. Let the next bidders beware. Just my two cents worth.
