Default Nelson Brothers Color Code

Does anyone have a color code for a nelson bros "Little Jumbo" engine? It looks like a light gray from the little amount of original paint left on it, But it seems like the ones I've seen at shows were green.

david; my little jumbo 1 3/4 hp had dry powder and flakey paint that also was gray. in places where the paint was protected it was close to a hunter green. all of the other greens (spray cans) where either too light or too dark

Thanks George,

I guess the gray I'm seeing was most likely a primer. This engine sat outside turned upside down for years and years and all the top coat of paint deteriorated.

I was told a DuPont paint code of 2015A was very close so I'm gonna go with that.

Thanks for the reply

Nelson painted most of their engines a dark green like the dark Hercules green. I don't know the exact color. I do have one, however, that is original in a medium machinery gray color.

Thanks Jeff,

At first, I thought the gray might be a primer of some type, but the more I look I believe the gray is the original color. It is a light machinery gray as you describe, and I am leaning toward finding a color close to that. This engine suposedly came with a small cane mill and may have been painted to match the mill.

Thanks for the response!

Question Re: Nelson Brothers Color Code

So, a blue colour would not be right then? Don't see many in the UK and the one I have seen is definitely BLUE!! Owners descretion or an importers overlay. Unsure. Can anyone say for sure what colour is really should be?

Have to say that as most UK built engines (as in Lister etc) are Mid Brunswick Green, the blue stood out on the rally field. The Amancos we have (your Associateds) are of course a red so that adds a change of colour too!
