Default Maytag Upright Colors

Hello.

Was wondering if someone could tell me the correct colors of the Maytag upright engine? I know the blue and red, but what parts are painted what? A picture would be real nice! I built two scale models from casting kits I bought from Brad Smith but never painted them. In his blueprints, he stated what was painted what color, but I can`t find them. I want to finish them complete so I can finally give the one to my father as promised! I have had them both running so I`m sure I will probably have problems with the paint sticking if not cleaned real well. Any good suggestions? Do I use primer? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks...........

Hi Jim, Look on page 25 of the july 2000 Gas Engine Magazine. There is a very good photo of an upright Maytag. I wouldn't prime anything unless it is a rough area you want to sand and block to smooth out. Just make sure it is clean, clean, clean. Then right before you paint it, wipe it down with some metal prep or enamel reducer. I would use acrylic enamel with a gloss hardner to make it gas proof.

David, where can I find the gloss hardener in order to make it gas proof?? Does a local hardware store carry it?
