Default wrong color

I had some paint mixed up for the Spence I'm working on and it was supposed to be dark red, almost maroon, but when I went to start painting last night and opened the can it was pink. Can't have a pink engine now can we, I'd never hear the end of it if I did.

Guess I'm back off to the paint store.

Didja mix it good? Perhaps the heavier pigments settled I know that some paints change color as they set (for instance "Coca-Cola red" looks VERY orange in the can) but somehow pink to maroon sounds a bit of a stretch

Tom~

For a short while, I mixed paint in a hardware store and we always dried a spot of paint on a slip of paper to show the customer the true color. It is almost ALWAYS different than it looks in the can. Try it & see what you get.

Tom: Try it on a scrap piece of old iron, and let it dry to see what color it really is. If the engine is a "SHE" , she may not object. I've seen pink engines with flowers on them and reserve comments to myself . BUT, to each their own. Just not in my back yard . Paul

Paint it and say it belongs to your wife.

I tried that last night, and she said she won't claim it. Oh well, I'm still going to paint it. I had some more paint mixed up at Home Depot and it still looks pink but I painted it anyway. Maybe this way it will draw more attention from the female spectators. You know how I just hate to talk to women. maybe then I can get some of them in bikini's to start on that engine calender.
