Default Stover color help?

I have an 8 hp Stover KD. The yellow book says only 1570 of these were made. Is there a chance that it is supposed to be brown? It appears to have never been restored (lots of very old grease and gunk). I have scraped and dissassembled all over the place and can find no evidence of anything but brown. I would have thought it should be green. Thanks for any info. SCOTT

This one is serial KD170610 and on the side of the hopper is cast 8 25. I don't know if that means it was cast August of 1925 ? This paint may have faded from red but it looks pretty brown. I really didn't want to paint it but I had to replace the exhaust valve and the clean head is going to be obvious.
