David , there is a short thread about HVLP in the archives. I posted a similar question a while back and got several responses. Good luck!

Thanks Rusty, I will check out the archives. What is a decent price, company, etc for a turbine hvlp unit which i gather is different from a hvlp gravity feed that works off a compressor. i have found a fuji unit turbine that is $650 us. Was hoping for $200-4300 us thanks again david

Dave, I tell my son to always but the best tools he can afford. They will last a lifetime. I then went out and bought a new china made HVLP spray gun with a quart pressure cannister for $29 from a flea market vendor. I too was not ready to spend the money on something I had not tried first. It works great! So great, in fact, that I don't have to buy a better one now for my limited use. Uses less than half the paint my old high pressure gun used.

Thanks for the info Jeff. Is you paint canister on top or below the gun. Being a pressurized tank means there is a pressure guage on the gun . This unit connects to a compressor ? this is most probably what i need to paint engines and a tractor thanks again david

There is a small pressure regulator that mounts just below the gun handle where the air line enters. A small clear plastic hose goes from the regulator to the cannister. It works fine and I don't have to have a special hangar to support the gun once it is full of paint. The cannister pressure is very low, but gives you all kinds of flexibility in painting with many material viscosities.
