Default Fanning Mill

I just acquired a fanning mill that was made in the 1920's and its almost entirely made of wood. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to safely clean the wood. Also, I have to replace some of the wood that is on it and was wondering if there was any way to "weather" the wood to match the rest of it. Thanks, Eric

I haven't tried it yet, but I'd think plain old sand blasting would do the trick. Keeping the nozzle at a distance for broad coverage and using sand - not glass beads. This is how they make weathered signs, by masking the lettering.
