Default Novo Color

I have an early Novo Engine and I would like to know the correct paint color. I know most Novo engines were green but my engine shows alot of original looking reddish/orange paint. It was maufactured by the Hildreth Manufacturing Company not the Novo Engine Company. My guess is that this makes it a very early model. Any help would be appreciated. I know the correct shade of green but I am not shure if that is correct. Thanks, Jeff

i also have an up-right eng.,that i thought was a novo, but i talked to Ed at Hit-miss,and he said its not a novo;the part numbers all start with J-4 or J40 and Novo,s start with S.the color of mine is a ox-blood red,im woundering if it could be a Hilbreth .the top of the cooling tank on mine ,comes off, so you can get at two bull-plugs,to remove the valves. If you have eny information, let me know.---Thank you.
