Interesting book

A while back I bought an old book ( published in 1900 )on steam engines. Some of the articles are very interesting. In the introduction at the bottom there is a note on the worlds smallest steam engine. I can't imagine a working model that small in either gas or steam. Does anyone know if anyone since then has made a smaller one? On through the book there is a lot of history on the steam engine. It goes back to 1629. Guess steam has been around for a lot longer than the internal combustion engines. There is also chapters on the internal combustion engines of that time.

That is nothing!! Take a look at http://www.memx.org/movie_gallery.htm These guys made a steam engine on a silicon chip - it is supposed to be only one micron across. Remember that this is a real steam engine, not an animation. The movie on the page is from a microscope. These guys specialise in making little mechanical things on silicon chips.
