Default Damifmaschinen Steam Engine

My father purchased a little Dampfmaschinen steam engine, either model D16 or D222. We have been unable to get any information on it to know how to work it. I have e-mailed the company over in Germany twice and received no answer. Am hoping somebody may know something about it or can direct me to the right place.

We would like to know basic information on it and an operation manual if possible. Mainly where do we get the fuel and what kind of fuel does it take.

Thank you. Eddie Shively

The fuel of choice is ESBIT tablets. This, I believe, is a trademark name and can be purchased at some hobby centers. You can also order it online at Yesterday's Toys. Sterno cans can also be used, but it is supposedly not good for the finish. To learn how to operate it first, why not use compressed air? Only takes about 5 lbs.

Esbit Fuel can be found at many camping stores and hobby shops.

you should be able to get instructions easily enough...if not, PM me and I will try to copy a set....otherwise: Use DISTILLED water in the boiler...fill to about 3/4 of the sight glass...use the ESBIT tablets for fuel....put a row lying flat in the bottom of the fuel tray and a second row standing up on top of the first (like an upside down T) ...if memory serves me the D-16's fuel tray is long enough to put 2 and one half tablets end-to-end....before lighting make sure the safety valve is ok and that the whistle works (the older ones also used the whistle with a weight and it serves as a backup safety valve) ....while the fire is burning, add a few drops of oil (like 20 or 30 wt) to the oil cups, inlcuding the one on the steam line.

You should have no trouble getting it to run...a few turns to push condensate out and off it'll go......

after shut down, oil the engine again...clean off water, oily mess, etc.

My first engine was a D-16....got it for Christmas when I was 6 yrs old...and I've been hooked on engines since.
