Default Kohler light plant magneto needed

I went to an auction Saturday and came home with a 4 cylinder Kohler light plant. It is missing the magneto. Does anyone know where I can find one? Pictures can be seen at: http://www.herculesengines.com/Kohler/Kohler%20Generator.htm Thanks. Keith

Where did you find that mag at? I'm looking for a starter motor for a l654 7.5r gas gen set.

Most any 4 bolt base mount mag will work. I have one of these engines with a Wico (x something model) and another with an eisemann mag. Dad had a third one with a Wico mag and I just bought another with an American Bosh.

Go figure. :-)

There are always a few of these on EBay usually for around $50 (hot).

He's right just about any 4 bolt mag will work if the direction of rotation is right. The eisemann was standard on the old gas catapillar crawlers. You can find them with Bosh, Wico and Prestolite as well. People generaly replaced the mag with what they could easily get. I had changed out a wico on my caterpillar 20 crawler and put on an American Bosh. The bolt patern was the same, but the fiber drive piece had to be 1/2" longer with the Bosh. No problem if you have acess to a lathe and mill.
