Default Airline Charger

My father & I are looking for information concerning this 1 cylinder air cooled gas engine sold by Montgomery Ward Co. circa mid 1930's TO mid 1940's. Any info is greatly appreciated - Thank You.

Sorry, I missed this one. I have an Airline, but never tried to run it. I've known these were made by Delco, but just recently found out that it is a Delco B6 or B12 in disguise. I'm told the engine was made by Continental. These generators were sold under a lot of names, I have two Sears types.

I have a 1941 Montgomery and Wards catalog that has the "Airline" generator listed. The description said it was powered by a Continental Red Seal engine. My brothers-in-law told me it had to be a Lauson engine because of the way the head and cylinder was made. The Wards catalog proved that wrong. I have a 6v, 12v, and a 32v Airline and they have a cast iron carry handle in the middle of the unit. They were sold as "Tiny Tims". Delco made a unit VERY similar, but like a lot of the old engines if you look very close they are quite different. The Delco was known as a "Little Joe" and had a smaller bore, different coil, different head bolt pattern, vented pulley, and a strap iron carry handle that was bolted on. Maybe some other suttle differences I'm not remembering. As far as I know Delco only made theirs in a 6v and a 12v model.

I have run my 6v Little Joe, 12v Tiny Tim, and I have taken the 32v Tiny Tim to shows for several years and kept three 12v lawn and garden battries charged to run a 32v fan and a 32v motor to drive a corn grinder. "DELCO DON"

Don, thanks for the info, I've been wondering about these little generators, but never found any info on them, only word of mouth. Did Continental make the engine for Delco? Was the Airline, Delco related? How about the Sears types I have? They only have Sears model numbers on them. Or does the similarity run to the engine only.
