If I had a nickel for every engine I saw that was seperated from it's generator, I could probably buy a few more light plants. It seems the when electricity came to the farm and people had no further use for the "Plant", they butchered it for the more useful engine.
"> That's progress. Keep your eyes open, I don't think all those generators wound up in the scrap yard. I recently was able to couple a 3HP FBM with an original style generator and it only took a couple of years of casual searching.

Food for thought. I know this will work, but I've never tried it. Find a generator of about the same size and adapt the field coils and armature to fit yours. It would take some doing, but the cost would probably be more affordable, especially if your a machinist or have a freind who is.
