My friends unit will not run unless choked. It does not appear to have a vacuum leak. Is this a common problem on this model? Anyone have an extra carb for sale?

If you don't have any intake leaks it sounds like the needle valve has something in it. If you opened the needle valve up and still needed to choke it, there must be something in it. Try cleaning the carburetor.
