Here is a picture of a Delco B6 generator. The original generators were all blue. I haven't got this one restored yet.

I hope this helps some.

Don, Mine's original down to the decal, and it's maroon, or dark red.

Franz, You have discribed my B12 to a T, down to the original decal. Are you sure your tag has B6 on it? These little generators by Delco were called "Little Joe". Montgomery and Ward sold an Airline that was VERY simulare to the "Little Joe" and they called theirs "Tiny Tim". I don't know who made the first one but the "copy" was as close to the first as the patent law would allow.

Is that one of those Delco B-6 generators on Ebay right know at Item # 555057495? It kinda looks like the one Delco Don has pictured.

Mark, that's a very common error. E-Bay #5550567495 is a "Tiny Tim" sold by Montgomery and Ward. Wards didn't make any thing, I don't think, but the Tiny Tims were manufactured by Continental Motors Company and merchandised by Wards.

If you check the one on e-Bay the one thing that will tell you that it is a Tiny Tim is the carry handle. It is cast iron and a part of the crank case. The Delco "Little Joe" (B-6) or (B-12) has a strap iron handle that is bolted to the crank case. There are several other things that are different as well, but you have to look close to see them. The head is different, the bore is different, the generator cover is different and you almost need to set them side by side to compare the differences.

In the Tiny Tims I have a 6 volt, 12 volt, and a 32 volt. I probably have seen 20 different Tiny Tims and maybe only three of them were exactly the same. I guess they made a change every six months during manufacture. When the weather here in Southern Illinois gets a little better I might get all three of them out and take a picture of them and post it here on the SPARKARCS site.

If any of you out there would like to ask me a question about either the Delco "Little Joe" or the Wards "Tiny Tim" just e-mail me and I'll try to answer them.

Thanks for the info Don. Those Tiny Tim's and Little Joe's look similar to the untrained eye. I have a production dated 1944 Signal Corps 110v.d.c. Briggs powered generator. Do you know what these were generally used to power, with that rating of voltage?
