Default Info wanted on Bus generator

Several years ago I helped get a Flxible bus that was converted to a motohome back on the road. It had a small 4 cylinder generator in a locker above the left rear wheel, and I was amazed of the small size. I believe that it was water cooled and the 4 cyl. engine was about 12 inches long, and had a generator attached to the rear of it. Does anyone know what it might have been, or know where information might be obtained? I like small engines. Thanks in advance. Bob

How large was the generator? If it was water cooled, where was the radiator mounted? Was it an overhead valve engine? Did it have a built in crank on the opposite end from the generator?

It was a flat head water cooled engine. I believe that it was supplied water by the bus cooling system. I do not remember a crank, but only saw it for a few minutes. I did not note the voltage or amp output.

I have no idea what the engine-generator might have been. There is nothing cuter than a little four cylinder engine of that size. I have a couple Kohler generators of that size, but they have overhead valves, weigh 500 pounds and they were rated at 1.5 kw 24 hours a day seven days a week. For a three horse engine they hold almost a couple gallons of oil in the crankcase sump.

Kohler made a lot of 2.5 to 5 kw flat head powered gensets. The block on the 3 kw mod. is about 14 inches long, a tad larger than the 4 cyl. ohv. Ther were also a lot of others, powered by various makes of engines like Continental & Hercules.
