Default Who made this? What's it worth?

Folks,

First time posting on the Sparkies board, don't have a generator but have been offered one and I'd like some advice from the experts! First of all, any ideas out there as to what make this might be? No unit tag anywhere (that I can get at anyway - the controls side is buried against the wall!). There are two tags, one that says the engine is rebuilt and shows undersize's and oversizes (everything is still standard), and lists the date of reconditioning as 8-42, and the second that says the unit is (was) property of the State of Michigan. The engine is a Novo AG radiator cooled 2-3 horse. The generator itself has a tag: Washington Electric Works (I think this is correct, didn't write it down when I was there), 1.5KW, 110V, 725 RPM. The back of the control panel appears to be complete, wiring original with factory crimped lugs on the wire ends. Engine is unstuck.

The engine puts the unit in the 1930's sometime. Any other information that you might know would be appreciated. Also, what is a fair price for this unit? He's offered a price, but want some ideas from you folks that know a heck of a lot more than I do about generators!

Thanx!

Norm

Norm, I've never seen one of these. It looks somewhat like it might be one of the military standard units that the government contracted before and after the big war. Pretty nice. Price? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!
