Default Old electric motor?

I have a little motor mounted on a wood base. I don't know much about this stuff, woundering if you could give info. or send me in a direction where I can find out what this is. I did get a copy of the patent. It was patented by H.H. Porter July 14 1891. The patent date is on both the motor and the base. On the base there is a name: R. Kanze 103 E.9. St. N.Y.City. The wood base is about 6"x6". The motor is about 4" high. It has alittle pully about 7/8" diameter. It has brass or copper brushes. According to the patent Porter was also from N.Y.City. Can anyone help me with this please? thanks, Jack

Jack, If your motor looks anything like the attached picture, and even if it doesn't, it is a fairly desireable antique toy. Toy motors are quite collectable. They were made in a ton of sizes and configurations. Take a look at my little home page. What I've shown there is only the tip of the iceberg. Do you wanna sell it?

Thanks Gus for the info and pictures of your collection. My motor looks pretty much like the one you showed me, except mine is just double the size. It has another winding and armature, if that is what they are called? I am going to try to mail the patent papers I have, if I can figure out how to do it. I may be interested in selling. Also, ther is a number 157 stamped on the top of this motor. Could this be a serial number? Thanks again, Jack Cahill
