I picked up a little 600 watt Pioneer Gen-E-Motor. It is type BA-6, No. SS 3030. It has a 110 volt 60hz. AC output and a 15 volt DC output apparently for charging batteries. It has a Wisconsin ABD that runs at 1800 RPM. It has virtually no wear. I bought it at a flea market. The guy said it was hard to start and I think he might have said it wouldn't put out AC. Both AC brushes were on the same slip ring and the air cleaner was assembled wrong so it wouldn't admit any air. It also needed a new condenser in the magneto. It now runs great. There are three terminals for the DC output. One is a common negative and the other two both put out the same positive voltage. Does anyone have any information on this unit or have any idea why there are two positive termials?

A lot of my DC light plants have a common negative and two positives, one to the battery and one to a lighting load, I'm not sure if this is the case with yours, as it also has AC output. It may also be a lead for a remote start switch.

Its probably a high charge and low charge terminals. I have a Blue Diamond set like that.

How about another possibility. One could be for battery charging and the other for electric starting throught a switch or solenoid.

I don't know if anyone is watching this post, but I happen to have a Pioneer Gen-e-Motor generator powered by a Wisconsin AB manufactured in 1944. My generator serial # is 3012 and also is a BA-6, it has 2 battery terminals. 1 POS and 1 NEG terminal, sounds like a previous owner has added an extra POS terminal for some reason.

One positive terminal is for high charge and the other one is for low charge. If you look inside, you will see a resistor between the two posivive terminals. The start is on the high charge terminal, always that I know of.

The unit that I have has only 2 terminals, 1 positive and 1 negative. The original schematics does not reflect 2 positive terminals or a resistor bridging two terminals. Here are some pics of my PE-108-D.
