Default Powerlite Generator

I have just became the owner of this electric plant and have absolutly no information on it. The tag on the generator says Montgomery Ward on it so I'm guessing it was sold by them but probably not built by them. It's mounted to a 2 cylinder flathead engine with no ID tag. It also has a honeycomb type radiator. I'm guessing it was built in the mid to late 50's as it has 12v hookups. Would appreciate any help I can get on this light plant. Thanks, Gary

Gary, I'm not sure if it was sold as a Powerlite, but the most popular 2 cylinder flathead generator was the Onan W2C. I believe these were made from the late 30's into the late 40's. I've seen a few with Fairbanks tags.

Mr Simms Thank you for your help. My engine is definetly A W2C Onan. Mine has battery ignition which makes it a little more complicated, it has two automotive type coils mounted on the side of the block each one feeds a sparkplug. It looks like the points work off of the camshaft. The engine is setup for electric start or hand crank. The generator is AC 115 Volt DC 15 volts, if you have any manuals on the engine or information on generators I would be very interested. Again thanks for your response. Gary
