It depends on if your generator was set up to self start. If it was it should have a series winding and there would be more than two leads coming from it. If one lead is heavier wire than the others, this will probably be the starting winding. Is this an Onan? More information, maybe a picture?

If you can provide either a picture or model number I may be able to provide you with a photo copy of the service guide by Onan. I have many of the Onan books but each is for a specific gen set. The manuals will have wiring diagrams usually.

I don't have manuals for the WC-3 at least by the cover titles. I do have an Instruction Manual and a General Parts Book for the W2C series of gen plants they are 2kw 110v or 240v or 32vdc@125Amps(not sure what the kw is on the dc charging plant. The parts manual does make references to a W3S-XXX series of model numbers where the XXX starts at1R30/A and goes up thro W3S-575 ...... there is also a listing for a W3S. On each section there is a different engine section, generator section and control section (and associated parts drawings). I don't know if this would be of use to you or not, the parts book is 80 pgs, but 2 pgs will fit on 8 1/2 x 11 pg. The Instruction manual is 51 pgs with 8 pages of schematic diagrams. I'm not sure what Kinko's would charge to copy them. I would need to add a couple of bucks or so to cover mailing. I don't know if the WC-3 you mention is even close to what the manuals mentioned here cover. The W2C series gen set is a water cooled, remote started rig it has 2 cylinders and a ignition coil like the older cars used to have. I just got my new cable modem 30 times faster than 56 k phone modem and it appears that when they set up my email account I copied down the address wrong I'll post the correct one when I figure it out.

Jack: the WC-3 uses a delco dist like a car and has a external governor to the carb it was 110 only as near as I could tell from the panel. Still waiting to hear back from Onan on any info they have which they said they did(hopefully) It was deffinately a 4 cyl. Al

Jack send me your E address when you get it I havent figured out how to get the pictures small enough to post them on the site yet, mine use LOTS of bytes or something. Think you will enjoy the pictures, probably older than your books. Al
